Reproductive Characteristics of Different Dairy Cows in Mithapukur Upazila, Rangpur, Bangladesh

The experiment was accomplished to determine the reproductive performance of high yielding breed of milch cow in Mithapukurupazila under Rangpur district during December 2014 to November 2015.It was clearly observed that different birth weights of calves, age at puberty, post-partum heat period, age at first calving and gestation period might be due to the breed factor, environment, management, feeding practice, nutrition and physiological status. Differences in service per conception might be due to the lack of proper knowledge of artificial insemination (AI), lack of skilled AI technician and the physiological status cows and heifer. Differences in calving interval might be due to breeding method, physiological status of cows and management practices. There were observed that the reproductive parameters of L× HF crossbreed cow’s superior than the L × SL crossbreed cows.We can state that the puberty rate is early in Holstein Friesian crossbreed. But the average age is lower in experimental area due to poor management and disease condition. We can also state that the fertility rate is high in Holstein Friesian crossbreeds.This study shows that Friesian crosses has lower days open than the Sahiwal cross. The days open are also relatively lower in present investigation. Above the results we can stated that the days open is high in Red Sindhi than Holstein Friesian crossbreeds. But the average days open is lower in experimental area due to genetically factors.
